Behavioral Health Services

If you need help with a mental health or substance abuse problem, you can get counseling, psychiatric medication, and supportive services through a contracted BCBSAZ Health Choice Pathway (HMO D-SNP) behavioral health provider. Please take a look at your Evidence of Coverage for covered services and your Provider Directory for a listing of contracted behavioral health providers.

If you need assistance finding a behavioral health provider or need help getting services, please contact Member Services at 1-800-656-8991, TTY 711, 8 a.m. – 8 p.m., 7 days a week. BCBSAZ Health Choice Pathway also has experienced behavioral health Case Managers that can help you find services.

Crisis Help

If you are having an emotional crisis or know someone who is at risk of physical harm, hurting themselves or someone else, call the Behavioral Health Crisis Hotline immediately. The county crisis lines are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
  • Here are some warning signs:

    • Hopelessness; feeling like there’s no way out
    • Anxiety, agitation, sleeplessness, mood swings
    • Feeling like there is no reason to live
    • Rage or anger
    • Engaging in risky activities without thinking
    • Increasing alcohol or drug use
    • Withdrawing from family and friends
  • Call 911 if:

    • You are concerned about harming or hurting yourself or someone else
    • Thinking about killing yourself, or looking for ways to take your life
    • Talking about death, dying or suicide
    • You or someone else has overdosed

You are able to get crisis services, even if you are not Title 19/21 eligible (i.e., not eligible for AHCCCS) or determined to have a Serious Mental Illness. The Crisis Line connects people in crisis and their families and friends with information and qualified caring health care professionals. The Crisis Line is completely confidential and is open to anyone who needs help regardless of insurance. Crisis Services include:

  • Crisis Intervention phone services, including a toll free number, available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
  • Mobile Crisis Intervention services, available 24 hours per day, 7 days a week
  • 24-hour Crisis Observation/Stabilization services, including detoxification services; and as funding allows, up to 72 hours of additional crisis stabilization; and substance use-related crisis services, including follow-up services for stabilization.

Enrollment in BCBSAZ Health Choice Pathway (HMO D-SNP) depends on contract renewal. BCBSAZ Health Choice Pathway is a subsidiary of Blue Cross® Blue Shield® of Arizona.
